How To Plan A Camping Trip

by Water Front 04 May 2022

Are you ready for the camping trip of a lifetime? A lot of camping enthusiasts will tell you that camping is the perfect way to de-stress and spend time with those closest to you. Many people have the misconception that camping is uncomfortable and unpleasant but planning your trip well in advance will help you to avoid all that. At Wildtrak we are committed to making your trips into the great outdoors as comfortable and enjoyable as possible. That is why we have a fully stocked catalogue of camping gear where you can get all your camping essentials.

Read on to find out what our step by step guide to planning the ultimate camping trip is.

1. Choose where you want to go

Where you decide to have your camping trip is very important. If your friends do not enjoy your choice of location they will not want to join you again. It is prudent to know beforehand that not all camping grounds may be suitable for your whol etravelling team. As such, you should choose a location that is suitable for the number of campers and their needs as well as your own, for example some people may need amenities if they are travelling with young children or not want to be close to open water due to safety issues. For a big group, choosing a camping location that has other activities that you can take part in is always a good idea so you can separate during the day and come back together for the evenings. It is always wise to have pre-trip meetings with your group to ensure everyone’s needs and requests are met.

2. Make a reservation well on time

After choosing your perfect destination, you need to make your booking well in time. A reservation can be made on-line or over the phone. Some campsites do not have these facilities available and serve clients on a first come first serve basis. The only way to guarantee that you get a place is to arrive early on the day that you want to start your trip. It is prudent to have your booking set with about a month or two to spare.

After making your reservation, take the time to read the camping ground rules concerning parking, pets, noise restrictions, sanitation and vehicle rules. Share the list of rules with everyone that will be taking the trip with you so that they know what is expected of them.

3. Prepare your gear

Just like with any other trip that you will take, adequate planning is important. Pack well in advance so that you don’t end up leaving any camping essentials such as your cooking gear behind and test any items such as lights in case they no longer work, require more batteries or a re-charge. There are plenty of online camping checklists for download and it is a great idea after each trip to update your list with additional things you think would have made your trip better or remove items which you took and did not use. You can even try a practice run in your backyard. This is very important for first time campers especially if you have purchased a new tent, always put it up prior to leaving to ensure you have all the parts and know how it all goes together in-case you arrive near dark and are in a hurry to set up camp.

At Wildtrak we have a wide selection of camping gear for you. Take a look at our catalogue and we are sure that you will find camping gear that will best match your needs.
